Trash & Recycling:
Solid Waste Authority

Curbside garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection in West Boca is handled by the

Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County (SWA). Keeping our community clean is a shared responsibility – here’s what you need to know:

Bins
  • Garbage: Collected twice per week.

  • Recycling: Collected once per week.

  • Yard Waste: Collected once per week.

  • Place bins at the curb the night before or before 6 a.m. on your scheduled day. All collections take place between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Exact pickup days vary by neighborhood. To find your specific schedule, use the SWA “My Pick-Up Days” tool on their website by entering your address, or call SWA Customer Service at 561-697-2700 for assistance.

  • Garbage: Place all bagged trash in the gray cart provided by the SWA and set it at the curb on your collection days.

  • Recycling: Use the yellow recycling cart (or blue and yellow bins in some older neighborhoods) for clean, loose plastics, metals, glass, and paper—never put recyclables in plastic bags.

  • If you are unsure whether something is recyclable, Check the SWA’s guide on What Can Be Recycled or the sticker on your cart.

  • Yard waste is collected once per week, and properly separating yard waste and bulk items helps keep our community clean and prevents illegal dumping.

  • Yard Waste: Includes grass clippings, leaves, palm fronds, and small branches, which should be placed in paper lawn and leaf bags, reusable containers, or loose piles under 6 cubic yards at the curb on your scheduled yard waste day. Tree limbs should be cut to 6 feet or less and stacked neatly; do not use plastic bags.

  • Bulk Items: Includes appliances, furniture, mattresses, carpeting, and large quantities of yard debris, which require a special pickup. To arrange a free bulk pickup, call SWA at 561-697-2700 or visit the SWA website; place bulk items at the curb on the agreed date, and be sure to remove refrigerator or freezer doors for safety.

For more details, visit the SWA’s Yard Waste and Bulk Waste pages.

  • Do not place paints, chemicals, batteries, or electronics in your regular trash or recycling carts, as they are dangerous and illegal to discard at the curb.

  • Instead, bring hazardous waste to the SWA Household Hazardous Waste drop-off center; the nearest facility for West Boca residents is at 13400 South State Road 7, and this service is free for residents.

  • Safely disposing of hazardous materials protects our environment and water supply.
