The Board of Directors of the West Boca Community Council has voted to oppose Amendment 4, which is on the ballot for the November 2 election.
If passed, Amendment 4 would amend the Florida Constitution to require voter approval of any new local comprehensive land-use plans, as well as any proposed changes to existing land-use plans. Currently, such changes are made by city and county officials who are elected by the voting public.
The Council opposes Amendment 4 because it believes it is not in the best interest of the nearly 200,000 people of West Boca.
Sheri Scarborough, the President of the West Boca Community Council, said “this amendment is a formula for endless gridlock in local government decision-making. The people elect local officials to make these decisions, and we should hold them accountable for decisions that are not in our best interest.”
