The plan to build a golf course in South County Regional Park has moved a giant step forward. The long-delayed watering permit has just been approved by Carol Wehle, Executive Director of the South Florida Water Management District.
There will now be a 30-day appeal period. If no appeal is filed by late August, construction of the new 27-hole golf course, named Osprey Point, is expected to resume soon thereafter.
Work on the facility came to a halt over two years ago because the water permit that was initially issued in early 2007 was subsequently withdrawn. Barring further delay from an appeal in the coming weeks, Osprey Point could open as early as the fall of 2010.
